I have been meditating for over three decades
I started my meditation journey when I was 26 years old thanks to a thought that hit me like a lightning bolt: "I need to start meditating."
The only problem? I had absolutely no idea how to do it. And I don’t think my ADHD would allow me to just sit there!
True to form—and honestly, as a stubborn, first-born Gen-Xer who insists on figuring everything out alone—I went at it completely by myself. I acted as if thousands of people hadn't already mastered it! My brilliant starting point? Diving straight into mala beads and chanting Sanskrit. My ADHD mind really loved the “doing” of this type of meditations.
While I still use that method on occasion, my practice has evolved. Over the years, I discovered that meditation isn't a one-size-fits-all box you have to force yourself into.
Some days, I use my original mala bead and chanting practice. Some days, I simply sit, follow my breath, and clear my mind. Other days, I rely on guided meditations to actively clear, heal, and focus. There are so many ways to meditate, and none of them are more "right" than the others. The secret is simply finding what works for you.
My goal for this course is to expose you to these different styles and share a space where we can explore them together. No pressure, no rigid rules—just walking the path side-by-side.
